Romanian violinist Ioana Weichelt is a performer and violin teaching artist based in Natick, MA. With over ten years of performing and teaching experience, Ioana believes that music brings everyone together and fosters inclusivity in a most natural manner. In today’s world, this aspect grows more important and essential in our lives, and Ioana believes it is crucial to instil a sense of community and inclusivity in her students.
Ioana has performed in France, Italy, Slovenia, Slovakia, United Kingdom, Germany and the US. Over the last decade, Ioana lived, performed and taught in Germany, United Kingdom and now the US.
Her repertoire is diverse and includes orchestral music, solo contemporary music and Baroque Ensemble performance.
During her time in the United Kingdom, Ioana performed with the Coleggium Musicum baroque ensemble at Cambridge University, under the guidance of Maggie Faultless.
Ioana holds a Bachelor of Music from University of Houston and a Master of Music from Rice University. Major teachers and influences include Kenneth Goldsmith, Kyung Sun Lee, Sean Wang, Brian Suits.
Ioana currently lives in Natick, MA with her husband and two daughters. She enjoys yoga and research into how to raise trilingual kids. Ioana speaks Romanian, English, and German.
