I have been teaching for over a decade and my students are my most tangible connection to music. As a
professional violinist, I enjoy performing and rehearsing with peers, but my inner musicality is most present when I’m teaching, because I mirror for my students my ideal musician, violinist, practitioner. This allows me to learn as I teach and I am most grateful to my students for that.
My teaching style is rigorous, with an accent on technique and sound production. It has been my experience as a musician, that without a natural, holistic way of making sound, we are unable to play and transmit our music to any audience, even to ourselves. That being said, learning and playing the violin is a very difficult endeavour, and I find it important to keep lessons fun and engaging to offset the difficulty.
Becoming a mother in 2017 has made my teaching more empathic and nurturing, but also made me realize the importance of community, especially musical community. My students benefit from being involved in masterclasses, organising recitals and performing in regular studio classes.
